The Best Beauty Looks From the Screen Actors Guild Awards

Morena Baccarin. With a punky (but still elegant) updo and sharp red lips, the Homeland actress sizzled down the red carpet. Now, I know I have a penchant for edgier, more-badass-less-bombshell beauty looks, but Baccarin still kept the look glamorous enough for the red carpet with subtle eye makeup, a not-so-electric shade of red, and some superfeminine accessories.

Michelle Dockery. I’m sorry, I’m just so obsessed with Dockery, and no, it’s not just because she’s the star of my favorite show, Downton Abbey. It’s because she always looks amazing—from her choices in gowns to her hair and makeup, which always seem to complement each other perfectly. And she changes it up, never doing the same thing twice on the red carpet. For the SAGs, I loved her Helmut Newton–inspired beauty look (classic smoky eyes, red lips, slicked-back hair) and how great it looked with her sleek black Chado Ralph Rucci dress.

Naomi Watts. Watts combined two of the night’s biggest beauty trends: red lips and Veronica Lake hair (meaning a deep side part and soft waves). And what was great about Watts’s version of the style was how fresh-faced she looked. It updated the ’40s feel and made it seem modern—and made her look half her age (I mean, she looked like she’s 18!).

Jennifer Lawrence. Also sporting red lips and a deep side part, Lawrence added some little details (besides the fact that she’s naturally beautiful and awesome) to make her look truly great. The texture of her lips was velvety and the color rich and luxurious, and instead of just keeping her hair all down, hairstylist Mark Townsend braided just one side, creating the illusion of a side shave.

Claire Danes. Some people might not agree, but I loved Danes’s black cherry lip shade. I thought she looked cool, and it worked great with her black dress and loose ponytail. But regardless of how you thought she looked, you have to admit she had the most daring beauty look of the night—which on a red carpet often filled with cookie-cutter smoky eyes and chignons was very, very refreshing. And I don’t know about you, but it also gets my beauty-obsessed gears going.

Marion Cotillard. Poor Marion Cotillard. Walking the red carpet when you’re sick can’t be fun, but she looked so beautiful you couldn’t even tell. While her makeup was nothing to tweet about (pretty basic, dark-rimmed eyes and natural lips), it was her hair that I fell in love with. Her asymmetrical, Vidal Sassoon-esque bob was daring for a red carpet.
