Holiday Hair Styles . . . The Fingerwave Bob

For some reason, medium length hair styles seem to not get their due, when it comes to viewing hair styling options on hair sites. I’m not sure exactly why that is, but I have a feeling I’m guilty myself of having more articles on long and short hairstyles than medium length hairstyles.
But in the real world, I think medium length hair styles is what we would find that the majority of women wear, at least here in America. Hair magazines and hairstye sites however, seem to glamorize long and short hair styles and have plenty of styling options for both. But, those with medium length hairstyles have less styling options to look at . . . don’t you think?

Here is a quick and easy hai rstyle that brings a retro look to a bob hair style. The hair style pictured here is cut with shorter layers beneath, which gives this bob a wedged appearance. This hairstyle works best with medium textured hair with some body or wave. You can achieve this wave a few different ways, of course each way will have slightly different results, but if you give yourself a practice run or two, you can find out which one gives you the best results.

1. Blow-dry hair 90% dry using large round brush to achieve body and fullness
2. Spray two inch sections with a light spray gel and wrap around two fingers to make pin curls
3. Use heat with a diffuser 10 minutes to set curl and let cool
4. Finger comb into place and mist with a shine serum

If you prefer you can use a large barrel curling iron to create a finger wave look.

1. With side part take two inch sections of hair and use your curling iron almost like a stamp on the hair shaft.
2. Stamp waves down the shaft of the hair.
3. Stamp one wave with the clamp of the iron on top of hair and the next, turn the clamp underneath the hair and stamp.
4. Alternate clamp on top and clamp on bottom down entire hair shaft.

Setting hair into finger waves takes a bit of more skill. If you haven’t done it before it will take some practice. You will need a good hair gel to mold the hair. Then let it air-dry for less frizziness.
