Try One of the Hottest Hairstyles from New York Fashion Week!

New York Fashion Week is not only an opportunity to get a taste of the hottest fashions of the upcoming season, it also gives us a sample of the hottest looks for hair. One thing is for sure, NYFW featured relaxed hairstyles, with natural texture  in hairstyles that were sexy and undone. Hair stylist, Odile Gilbert, created a sweet and effortless “twisted updo” for The Row, that is not only wearable, but super easy to do at home!

1. Apply Kerastase Mousse Volumactive  (Odile’s product of choice) throughout towel dried hair.

2. Take half inch sections and twist hair to form loose “dreadlocks.”

3. Blow dry hair while using fingers to shape and form curls.

4. When hair is completely dry, divide into three sections, top, middle and bottom. Avoid clean partings that will create lines in your finished look. Top section should start at the top of the ear.

5. With a comb, tease each section at the root.

6. Twist and pin the top section, followed by the section below it.

7. For the last section, twist and pin into the shape of a bun.

8. Use fingers to loosen twists for a softer texture.

9. Finish the look with Kerastase Double Force Hairspray , or a similar matte finishing spray.

Don’t worry if your finished look isn’t identical to the picture, the goal of this style is to be natural and organic. What’s fun about the “twisted updo” is that the look will be different and unique each time you do it!

This spring, embrace the effortless styles of the season, without spending hours in the mirror. The “twisted updo” is not only an easy and comfortable style, but is a huge hit on and off the runway. NYFW was a display of so many different new hair trends, but the overall motto seemed to be, “simple and sexy,” and we couldn’t agree more!
