Gray hair has never looked so good!
Seriously, didn’t you go crazy for Meryl Streep’s silver, gray hair in The Devil Wears Prada ? I can’t believe her friends haven’t talked her into going there yet. When I first saw her in this fabulous wig (so fabulous that I wasn’t sure it was a wig!) I thought,”this is it, it’s time to cut my hair and let it go gray; a sexy, silvery, white minx gray! But . . . I haven’t taken that leap yet. My hubby would like to see me go with a short gray hair style. (I’m a brunette and my hair is long, can you believe it?) He says, I’d be shocked at how many men think gray hair is sexy! I think a healthy head of gray hair is gorgeous too . . . but am I ready to go there?? Not quite yet, but going natural with my gray hair is on my radar.
So why do so many of us struggle with going natural with our gray hair? Well, to begin with we’ve been hounded by the media our whole, entire lives, that gray hair needs to be colored to keep ourselves forever young. Then we aren’t sure if we’ll have a pretty, silvery, shiny gray hair type, or some other combination we’ve seen that looks not nearly as striking as we hoped for. And, some gray hair colors can make a woman look a bit sallow and washed out! But then . . . look at what it did for Meryl Streep!
I do think gray hair should be embraced . . . but when? In fact, silver strands compliment most skin tones and features. Just because our hair is graying doesn’t mean we should throw style to the wind! Gray hair isn’t the culprit that necessarily ages a woman, but unflattering, unkempt gray hair will!

Bob hairstyles are classic, chic and just keep getting more and more popular as time goes by. A bob can be worn with straight, smooth hair or it can be just as tantalizing with a tousled, wavy texture. Wear an angled bob to add dimension and definition to your hair style. Gray hair looks especially striking with a smooth bob, because silver shades can be brilliant with high shine. Razor layered bobs keep many hair types manageable, so if you prefer little maintenance, ask your stylist if you can wear a bob haircut like this.

A shoulder length layered cut with side-swept bangs is super flattering on gray hair! The key to wearing this style is keeping hair smooth and sleek. To get this look, blow dry your hair with a round brush to remove frizz and to add volume. Add a pomade on the bangs at the roots, to keep them out of your face and apply a silicone product all over to add shine and promote silkiness.

A short layered cut,with flipped up ends, looks young and updated with gray hair. Adding bangs to this hairstyle helps to frame the face and accentuate features like the eyes and cheekbones. Once you have cut shorter layers into your hair, straighten your hair with a flat iron and bend the ends up with the edge of the straightener. Using a texturizing product throughout your hair will create a fun, piecy look.
Beachy waves or a stylized, messy texture, looks great with long, wavy gray hair. Using a sea salt spray while it is still wet and letting it air dry, will give you a sassy twist on your normal hairstyle. Or, scrunch your hair while it is still wet, and let it be . . . your waves will be sculpted and defined. This style is so modern and fashionable and the best part is, it’s easy to achieve and it looks great!
Pixie cuts look fabulous with gray hair. They can be fresh and fierce and show a whole lot of attitude! Pixie cuts require a little bit of upkeep because they are so short and should be trimmed frequently to maintain the shape. The great thing about a pixie cut is that it doesn’t require a lot of time to style. Simply use a bit of light hold gel all over and use your fingers to style it in place.
